This is the second one of these capes purchased from Nigel. It’s the usual high quality from Whiting,, beautifully dyed with perfect soft feathers, great for head hackles or palmering. A stunning colour which is perfectly suited to Irish Lough patterns.

I wouldn’t have thought of calling this copper olive but having now looked at it closely, I can see the reasoning. There is definitely an olive in there, leaning slightly toward golden but then the light copper takes over.but not in a severe manner. Overall it is a beautiful shade with the same soft Whiting hackles, I shall enjoy using it.

Great value and prompt service (as always). This cape will tie right down to 20s, and up to standard reservoir style flies. The dye is nice and even, the skin is dry and supple and the colour is very subtle indeed. I bought this as a sub for Buff Cochin colour, and its bang on the money. And will probably last me forever - excellent!

Excellent quality as usual however the colour is so close to Cinnamon in the same range that there is almost no difference. A bit disappointed, as I was hoping for a another colour to use rather than a fractionally darker shade of Cinnamon.

My review of this burnt orange hen cape mirrors that of my review of the Golden olive cape. The quality, density and variety of top quality hackles is tremendous. This, in my humble opinion after tying for 40 years is perfection at a reasonable price. The colour is exquisite.

As far as I am concerned there is no producer of premium hackles to match Whiting. The quality and consistency is second to none. This black claret with very soft hackle is perfect to use alone or to mix with the true claret in claret bumble. Any dark wet fly will be enhanced with the addition of one of these hacles
