    I am still amazed at the number of fly tiers that have not used the Black laced range of capes and saddles and most who have never heard of them. They are an exact opposite to the Badger whereby these have the colour in the centre of the main web with black tips The variety of variants that can be tied is phenomenal. The orange and yellow for instance tying a Cascade is brilliant. Added to this difference is the fact that it is a Whiting and the hackle quality is beyond reproach. This cape is the second one I have bought and used. Delighted.

    Claret has always been one of the top colours in flytying. One only has to look at the flies produced by the likes of TC Kingsmill Moore the Irish judge who produced the bumble series, the claret bumble probably one of the most popular. Now I have a black laced hen cape in claret to “ play around with” the possibilities are endless. Beautiful soft webby hackles that I will also use in salmon flies for peaty waters particularly the Tyne. A perfect cape to add to the other brilliant colours on offer from Whiting.
