The Renzetti Master Vice is so named because it does it all. Featuring a jaw mechanism that will securely hold hooks from a #28 to a 10/0, this is the vise for the tier who turns out everything from tiny trout flies to feather duster size billfish offerings. If you are a production tier or a serious saltwater buff, this is the vise to own. The Master Vice has the traditional rotary actuator that allows the tier to rotate the jaws by spinning the rotary arm. Without question, the Renzetti Master Vice is the most advanced and most versatile vise available today.

    I purchased the Master vice as I have increased my fly tying greatly in the past two years. This is no doubt a class vice. I had studied what was on offer for over six months knowing that I was going to spend a bit of money to have a secure and lasting product of quality. There are some fancy looking vices out there with all the bells and whistles but at he end of it all, you need is a good Jaw system, good rotation and good access to the hook. It does not matter one iota what it looks like, it is how it performs. If you love fly tying and like me you tie for pleasure and make quality flies with no rush then you need a good vice. Fly tying is another part of the fishing hobby and if you get hooked it can become very expensive. Well I have built up a huge stack of materials over the years but for some reason did not invest properly in the most important item I needed. The Renzetti came out on top for me. I purchased the master pedestal deluxe (better pedestal). First the Jaws and tension, you must set the hook properly and engage it to the correct lever tension , this is simplicity itself. No extra tork required if you just pay attention and follow the instructions. Simply nip the hook size you have chosen in the jaws then release it back slightly until it would fall out, position it and pull on the lever un til it feels secure , ping or try to bend your hook and it will be perfectly clamped in. It will never move and you can rest assured on that. The rotary function is ultra smooth and can be done in stages or full rotary as you set it up and this takes seconds. The instructions are precise so follow them !! Buy yourself a small can of lightweight grease, a small can of wd 40 and you are sorted for the rest of your life on a precision made piece of jewellery. If you have a disaster and mess the vice up Renzetti are wonderful and fully accomodating as are Lakeland. I doubt whether anyone will need to worry about spare parts in the UK. Follow the instructions and learn how to use it properly it will certainly outlive the owner. Alistair

    Well if you want the best you have to pay a bit more! Is it worth it, well for me it certainly is, I would rather save my money and get a brilliant bit of engineering that will last me for the rest of my life than purchase a middle of the road that probably will not go the distance. I had this vice set up in around ten minutes the first time, as I was really taking care, the instructions with it are precise ! Catching in the first hook size 18 was simple but you must set the hook in properly again look at the instructions and it will never slip. The rotary feature is awesome and so smooth, but I only used it for checking the balance of my fly on this occasion. I put in a size 12 and with very slight adjustment on the Jaw screw (and this is important) moved the lever to tighten and simply perfection. You do not need to over tighten the screw EVER grip the hook lightly and just turn back a little to loosen then set the lever and you are sorted. For Rotary set the hook in the mid line shown on the instructions. This is a brilliant vice a little on the expensive side but wonderfully engineered. Save your money and get one !!
